Very worn cloth covered notebook featuring a dancer apparently from one of the model operas on the upper cover. Pages with ruled lines are interpersed with photographic images of athletes, attractive scenes etc. One image has childish scribble on it. Occasional small closed tears and other signs of use, light occasional spotting. A well used notebook with most page covered in Chen's neat handwriting.

Interesting Chinese propaganda notebook contains a mixture of diary and propaganda articles, slogans and Chairman Mao's quotations, handwritten in blue ink, unpaginated. The notebook belonged to a high school student named 陈玉芳 [Chen Yufang]. Chen started her senior high school (Year 10) in February 1974 only to find as Chen reports in this notebook there were no classes for the whole of the first week as all of the students were participating in the Criticize Lin, Criticize Confucius Campaign.

This notebook was possibly given as an award to a family member of Chen Yufang as the first page shows a company stamp 北京市工业安装公司第四工程处 [No.4 Engineering Unit, Beijing Industrial Installation Company], annotation, signature and date [1960].
