Long scroll showing 11 delicate scenes of Heian figures drawn in ink. Drawn onto a series of sheets and later laid onto the 2 metre long backing. Some staining mainly along lower edge of first three sheets, occasional spotting. 31 x 200cm. An interesting series of images.

This is a beautiful collection of ink hand-drawn traditional figures. One figure, most likely Lady Murasaki, is coloured in subtle shades. Most of the scenes and figures depicted here, likely originate from stories of the Heian period, as evidenced by their attire. These paintings were probably produced as draft drawings to specify designated colours for printing, as indicated by some additional colour references. Nonetheless, the drawings themselves are beautifully executed, with intricate and delicate details.
