Wood engravings from "Harper's Weekly" published on the day Mandalay fell to the British at the close of the third Anglo-Burmese War. The engravings are from original photographs, likely military photographs recording the war. The engravings are captioned:
"The Shiva Dagon Pagoda at Rangoon"; "The Great Bell at Mengdoon" and one larger half-page illustration "Monastery Near the Eastern Gate of Mandalay".
