Colour woodblock print on a sheet measuring 31.3 X 51.4cm, folded as issued. Tiny hole (pinhole) at one fold intersection, light toning to verso of two panels (outer side when folded), overall very good condition.

An attractive woodblock print depicting a gosho guruma (ox-drawn carriage for noble men and women) with all components identified (in Japanese kanji). This form of transportation is associated with the Imperial Court and aristocrats. The image of the cart is still very popular and used in various items, including kimono designs. This sheet is identified as Supplement No. 3 to "Kokugakuin Zasshi" (The Journal of Kokugakuin University) volume 5, which was issued in January 1899.
