Colour folding sugoroku game sheet, 55 x 78.8cm, a few small holes at folds but otherwise very good.

This fun sugoroku game in vivid colours was published in 1917 during World War I. The sheet was issued as a supplement to the New Year issue of the boy's magazine, Shonen. Aircraft and pilots were adored around that time and a boy's dream was often to become a pilot. The game starts as two young boys' begin their training at an air school. After being tested and trained, one becomes a pilot and flies across the world, over the European Alps and encounters the Thunder god. He has an accident, but survives. After receiving a military medal from the British king, he reaches the games' goal, with his triumphant return to Japan.
