The Kamogawa Odori Dancing Festival has been held in Kyoto once a year in spring since 1872 and features top-level performers from the Kyoto geisha circle. This programme of the May 1920 celebration was held at Pontocho Kaburenjo in Kyoto. The festival has attracted interest both Japanese and overseas, and in the 1930s, Charles Chaplin and Jean Cocteau saw the shows. Text is mainly in Japanese, but there is a short history of the festival and dancers' names in both Japanese and English. The 1920 performances showcase a variety of scenes under the themes of major sites in Kyoto and Lake Biwa and some illustrations of the stage sets are featured here as well. In addition to the performance information, numerous advertisements of various businesses in Kyoto are featured in the programme.

The unique aspect of Kamogawa Odori is the fact that all the dancers are women who work in the Kyoto entertainment industry as geishas and maikos. They are well trained in dance, singing, and music instruments as accomplished artists.
