Stock ID #215834 This highly detailed map of Taiwan, published in Mainland China during the First Taiwan Strait Crisis of 1954-55, shows topographical features, main transport routes, cities, towns and villages of the island. A colour scale within the key explains the heights of mountainous areas and sea depths, while line drawings show topographical information such as sand shoals, rivers and lakes. Shipping routes with distances in nautical miles (given as 浬) between Taiwan and the mainland are also marked. When referring to this item please quote stockid 215834.

Divided into 16 panels, measuring 77 x 56cm. Shows slight wear and soiling at folds, archival paper repairs on reverse to folds and edges, some stains and ink marks on reverse but not affecting map image which is clean and bright.
Notably, the naval and air bases of the Republic of China Armed Forces (formerly the National Revolutionary Army) are labelled within the key as belonging to "Chiang Kai-shek's felonious political gang", in colourful reference to the Kuomintang.
