Two coloured fan prints, 27.5 x 26cm. Occasional light marks, a little light browning. Very good.

These two propaganda prints were created to make children's paper fans, each carrying patriotic messages and delicately rendered in bright colors.

The first sheet features a young boy on a white horse blowing a bugle. A Japanese warplane is seen flying in the sky with the rising sun in the background. The caption urges people not to disclose any military secrets, even to close friends. Additionally, the lyrics of the 1940 nationalistic song, "Kokumin Shingunka", are printed on the sheet.

The second sheet depicts an idyllic scene of children playing by a lake, catching dragonflies and fish. The boys are portrayed in more active roles, while the girls hold a bucket or a cage. The message on this sheet reads, "East Asia's Future is Bright and Children are Thriving." A warplane can be seen in the sky in the far distance, subtly tying the peaceful scene to the wartime context.
