Two black and white woodblock prints tipped onto a light card folded sheet, each measures 23.5 x 30.5cm. A few light marks and some very light wear. Good.

These prints give a list of the large number of feudal lords who shared guard responsibilites within Edo in the late Edo period. Once the foreign powers started to arrive in Edo in the 1850s, similar lists were printed on the subject of the defence of Edo Bay. However, in this earlier list, the guard posts are within Edo city at various bridges and gates. The charming woodblock illustration at the right indicates that this was a peaceful period showing Edo Castle against a background of Mt Fuji with two flying cranes crossing the sky.
