Folded colour map, maps, 165 black and white and 5 colour photographic illustrations 98 leaves [unpaginated], 26.7 x 39cm, four stamps show this book was once part of the Nara Junior High School library these are accompanied by a prior owner's chops on front free endpaper and on the margins of a few plates, first and last leaves browned, some occasional light browning throughout mainly confined to the reverse of the plates, cloth covered boards worn and a little browned. A good ex-library copy.

This richly illustrated book on the South Sea Islands (the Japanese term for the Mariana, Caroline, and Marshall Islands) was published in 1932 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the South Sea Agency in Japan. These islands were part of the League of Nations' Mandated Territory after World War I and remained under Japanese control.
