Stock ID #217446 A small collection of original photographs from the collection of Thomas Wilkinson Burdon (1918-1988) who served as Deputy Director of Fisheries in Singapore & Malaysia from 1949-1953, and visited Ceylon during his tenure. The photographs are captioned in Burdon’s hand and include images of fishing vessels and nets and one of a Fishermen's housing estate in Ceylon. 26 black and white photographs, mounted on stiff folding foolscap leaves (bifolium, the leaves a little bowed), two loose, captioned in T. W. Burdon's hand, approx 8.5 x 14cms (or portrait) with two boxes of slides related to fishing vessels in Australia (with a typewritten index by Burdon), the photographs unfaded and crisp, in very good condition.
The quality of the photographs speak to Burdon’s skill as a gifted amateur photographer: the photographs are not only of technical interest, but have considerable visual appeal.
