This scarce 1944 picture book, aimed at children aged 7 to 9, narrates the story of Kan-chan, a local boy who becomes an anti-aircraft gunner in the Army. The book employs a manga style, featuring numerous illustrations and brief captions in katakana to facilitate easy reading for younger audiences.
