Endpapers discoloured, a prior owner's name on the front free endpaper, some light foxing on the margins of the index, light wear otherwise a clean and sound copy in the attractive binding.

The author travelled from Europe through Siberia via the Trans-Siberian Express. He describes, with historical detail, his visits to the Manchurian battlefields of the Russo-Japanese War, Korea and Japan.
