Stock ID #219557 Appealing and well-made piece of Australian vernacular memorabilia by an unknown maker, the fabled crocodile dominating the piece, and its territory (primarily Northen Australia), the decorative white opal set a little distant from its main source in Coober Pedy, South Australia. Small bronze ornament (possibly for use as a belt buckle or hat badge), approx 4 x 6 cms, a crocodile, jaws ready to strike, be-striding a base plate in the shape of mainland Australia (the surface knobbled, suggestive of terrain), its head and body in the "Top End" its tail encircling South-eastern Australia inlaid with a white opal, the verso smooth and stamped with two pairs of initials (possibly makers'): O.Z. [and] N.R., the whole a little oxidised but in very good condition.
