This compilation of memorials to the emperor, military dispatches, and administrative commentary was written by the Ming Dynasty scvholar-official and military leader, Lu Xiangsheng. His writings reflect the complexities of governance, military strategy and his own personal convictions. He became renowned for his loyalty fighting internal rebel forces and the Manchus when they invaded.
