This book was issued as a supplement to the March 1934 edition of Keizai Ōrai (経済往来) and brings together thirteen essays by various authors on Manchukuo, established in 1932. Interest in this newly founded puppet state was high in Japan at the time. Most essays focus on Manchukuo’s infrastructure and industries, such as soybean production, transport networks, and forestry, while the final four essays turn to cultural and social topics, including local festivals and the problem of banditry.
