2 full page coloured maps, 48 pages of black and white photographic illustrations (mainly two to a page), each with a tissue guard and captioned in English. Attractive light green patterned silk covered boards bound Japanese style, contrasting silk tassel ties slightly faded, paper title label laid down on the upper cover, 19 x 26cm. Some occasional time toning on the reverse of the plates, silk worn with a little loss along upper joint and corners, presented in worn original card slipcase, an attractive copy.

This photographic record shows the Japanese troops in battle in and around Shanghai. The photographer who captured these shots was an eye-witness to the action as the street scenes and troops in the countryside show. Most photographs show the fighting close up from a Japanese point of view. Includes many recognisable street scenes.
