This poster, published during the Pacific War, was intended to educate the public about the importance of conserving and recycling everyday resources. The materials listed include steel, copper, aluminium, paper, cotton, wool, rubber, and glass. The text stresses that many of these resources had to be imported from overseas and could be redirected for use in the war effort. Although the message itself is serious, the poster is enlivened by cartoon-style illustrations that introduce humour and a sense of humanity. The recycling campaign was organised by Senji Busshi Katsuyō Kyōkai (The Wartime Resource Utilisation Association), which operated through a nationwide network and coordinated the collection of materials at a local community level.
