Complete in two volumes - Volume I in hardback, Volume II in paperback. Maps, genealogical tables, some black line drawings, Volume I: 468pp; Volume II: 348pp. Text in traditional Chinese characters, Volume I, 21.4 x 15cm, hardback; Volume II, 21.2 x 14cm, paperback. The two volumes are the same edition, but have been bound differently. Foxing to both volumes, covers a little worn, with slight soiling, closed tears to paper wrapper and upper hinge starting Volume II, but still sound. In good condition.

This is a comprehensive two-volume set exploring the history, politics, and culture of the Nanzhao (738–902) and Dali (937–1253) kingdoms in present-day Yunnan, China. The complete set covers their rise, Buddhist influences, and eventual conquest by the Mongol Empire.
