This kimono fabric sample book showcases a wide variety of kimono textiles which were for sale between 1959 and 1963. The publisher, Senshoku Sinpō, is a Kyoto based company which has been issuing trade newspapers for kimono traders. This very large sample book covers fabrics not only for kimonos, but also for sashes. Each page features 3 to 4 fabric samples in various sizes with their retail prices, production locations, and recommendation words from some notable retailers. Wide variety of textiles with different colours and textures are collected here and their delicate colours and patterns remain intact. It is most likely that some of them are not produced any longer. Interestingly, some imported fabric from England and France are included as well. Some fabric samples are missing, but most of them are intact.
