Set of six small coloured painted masks labelled according to the character they represent, (includes Sun Wukong), presented in Chinese padded box with attractive red velvet backing to masks, 13 x 16.5cm. Occasional very light wear, paint colours very vibrant and clear, very good in slightly scuffed box.

Includes masks of Hetong 鶴童, Sun Wukong (Monkey) 孙悟空, Erlang Shen 二郎神, Zhongkui 钟馗, Lei Zhenzi 雷震子, Tianzhu 天主. These characters, while not from the same play or opera, are all iconic figures from Chinese mythology, folklore, and classic literature that frequently appear together in Chinese traditional opera and folk performances.
