Black and white folding woodblock map, 29.3 x 40cm. A few tiny holes and a chip along the upper edge, light soiling and browning. A good copy.

This black and white woodblock map shows minute details of a section of Edo which is located on the west of Sumida River. The river runs from north to south on the lower side of the map. The area depicted in this map is currently in Chuo-ku, the central part of Edo City. Along the river, by famous Eitai Bridge, we can locate Tokugawa Tayasu (徳川田安)
Family's residence. The map shows amazing details of the city with numerous streets and blocks, which are all named. Rivers and canals are also marked with numerous bridges across. The map clearly shows high population density of the city and the top caption emphasises the importance of fire prevention.
