Stock ID #222253 The story of a deaf, mute Chinese girl with a Mongolian father and Tibetan mother, rescued by missionaries Mildred Cable and Francesca French in China around 1925. Sold into begging, she was found suffering and brought to the missionaries, who renamed her Ai Lien, but called her 'Topsy'. A newspaper clipping from the Auckland Weekly 1947 is loosely inserted showing a now adult 'Topsy' attending the 143rd birthday party of the British and Foreign Bible Society held in Melbourne.
