Mitford, who was a British diplomat and author, was posted to Moscow, Peking and later Japan. His best known book,Tales of Old Japan, is in print to this day. Two volumes. Vol. I: 396pp. Vol II: 397-814pp, index. Both volumes: Black and white illustrations. 23 x 15.5cm. Light pencilling some leaves, edges and preliminary leaves, browned, corners bumped, cloth a little marked and rubbed, a good sound copy.
