Originally written in Mongolian by Khorloogiin Choibalsan, one of the principal leaders of the 1921 Mongolian Revolution and Mongolia’s dominant political figure from the late 1930s until his death in 1952. This Chinese edition was translated by Zhang Huiqing from a Russian-language edition of Choibalsan’s work.

A brief, strongly partisan history of the Mongolian revolutionary movement, the work presents Mongolian revolutionaries as heroes of national and social liberation, supported by Soviet Russia in their struggle against Chinese warlord forces and the anti-Bolshevik Russian troops commonly described as the White Guards. Choibalsan had participated personally in the revolutionary movement, giving the book significance as an official account associated with one of its central figures, although it reflects the Soviet-aligned interpretation of Mongolian history promoted during his rule.


Published in Beijing in 1956, the translation reflects the close political and cultural relations between the People’s Republic of China, the Mongolian People’s Republic and the Soviet Union during the early Cold War. Uncommon in commerce, though held by several major Chinese and American research libraries.
