Paris. [ 1764]. Stock ID #224037 A pair of elegantly charted maps prepared for the influential "Le Petit Atlas Maritime" by the eminent French hydrographer Jacques Nicolas Bellin, (1703-1772). The larger map (sheet 1, no. 21) covers Northern India, depicting the Mughal heartland, Delhi and the major river systems of the Indus and Ganges. The other (sheet 2, no. 22) picks up where the first ends, covering the Southern Peninsula (marked "Presqu'Isle de l'Inde") the Malabar and Coromandel coasts and Ceylon. 22.5 x 31.2 cms (map including platemark), 32.3 x 45 cms (sheet) central fold, small chip from the lower margin (not affecting the map); and 23.8 x 17 cms (map including platemark), 32.1 x 23 cms (sheet), inner margin a little ragged (not affecting the map); title cartouches, mountains shown pictorially, a little age toning to the sheets but both in very good condition.
