Some light foxing, a little heavier on the reverse of some plates. Armorial bookplate on the front paste-down. Yellow cloth covered boards ruled and lettered in black, a little soiled, spine sunned and corners bumped. A firm and sturdy copy.
Railway Readers was an innovative 19th-century book series initiated in 1851 by the John Murray publishing house in London. Launched during the Victorian boom of steam travel, the series provided cheap, portable, and entertaining literature specifically designed to be read on trains, because of their ephemeral nature they are now scarce.
