Celebrated writer Tash Aw returns to Asia Bookroom

Thursday, May 23, 2013

In Australia as a guest of the Sydney Writers' Festival, Tash Aw returns to Asia Bookroom to discuss his new book Five Star Billionaire.

Tash Aw is the author of The Harmony Silk Factory, which won him the Whitbread First Novel Award, the Commonwealth Writers' Prize for Best First Novel, and a longlisting for the Man Booker Prize, and also of Map of the Invisible World.

Five Star Billionaire is set in the bustling metropolis of 21st-century Shanghai, in which five newcomers to the city strive to make their dreams a reality. A powerful story of success, failure and the blurred line between the two.

This is Tash Aw's third visit to Asia Bookroom, and as those who were at Asia Bookroom when he last spoke will agree, he is quite simply wonderful. Tash is articulate, thoughtful and highly intelligent. This is sure to be a very special evening and a real literary treat.
