Anthony Reid's 3 Recent Books to be Launched

Wednesday, Apr 13, 2011

Three books by Anthony Reid, or "What was Tony up to O.S.?" Professor Robert Cribb will launch Professor Anthony Reid's latest books at Asia Bookroom on April 13 After the launch by Robert Cribb, Tony Reid will talk about these books and how they came to be.... Tony Reid retired early from ANU in 1999 to take up “an offer too good to refuse” at UCLA (Los Angeles), followed unexpectedly by another at NUS (Singapore). Although his ten year absence from Canberra was initially dominated by institution-building, he was blessed in being able to expand his horizons through numerous conferences. Partly thanks to a sabbatical in 2005, lighter duties from 2007 and hardly any since 2009, some of these projects are now reaching publication. This event will launch three books appearing in 2010-11, two of Reid’s and one co-edited volume. The three books are: 'Imperial Alchemy: Nationalism and Political Identity in Southeast Asia' and 'To Nation by Revolution: Indonesia in the Twentieth Century' both by Anthony Reid, and a third edited with Zheng Yangwen, 'Negotiating Asymmetry: China’s Place in Asia' This evening will be a great opportunity to hear Professor Reid speak and to celebrate the hard work that has gone into these important works. Join us to listen and celebrate by raising a glass afterwards! If you can't join us on the 13th of April but would like to buy a signed copy or would just like to look at the details just click here Imperial Alchemy, or here 'Negotiating Asymmetry' If you are ordering a signed copy please just put "signed copy please" in the comments section of your order.
